Drainage Districts
Property owners within the district, not the County, own and pay for all maintenance and repairs to that district. There are elected trustees for the County's 11 drainage districts. The Auditor's Office maintains records, spreads assessments when necessary, and certifies drainage assessments to the Treasurer for collection.
Drainage districts as well as ditches and tiles can be viewed on the County Assessor's website by finding a property of interest and clicking the check box on the left side next to Drainage Districts and Drainage Lines.
The Iowa Drainage District Association (IDDA) provides legislative and funding support to Iowa drainage districts.
