Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Responsibilities: Must be able to diagnose and repair equipment including Caterpillar motor graders, excavators, loaders, and dozers, John Deere mower tractors, and other heavy construction equipment. Other responsibilities include ordering parts, metal fabrication, preventative maintenance, care of a service truck, record keeping, and snow removal. Shift is M-F 7-3:30, and M-TH 6-4:30 during the summer and on-call 24/7 during winter weather.
Wages: $23.26 to $29.75 per hour ($48,000 to $62,000 annually).
Benefits: IPERS retirement, health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays immediately upon hire. Comp time earned for hours over 8 per day.
Requirements: 2-year Tech Degree preferred. 1+ years diesel equipment repair experience, preferably with CAT equipment. Must own a mechanic tool set. Class A CDL with airbrakes is required within 6 months of hire. Pre-employment physical and drug-screening are mandatory.
