Public Safety Dispatcher
Responsibilities:
• Operate and monitor telephones, computers, and communications equipment for emergency and routine traffic.
• Facilitate appropriate response to all calls for service.
• Respond to communications from units and relay information back to them.
• Receive incoming emergency telephone calls and dispatch appropriate resources.
• Dispatch public resources to appropriate community services.
• Utilize computer-based resources and software to facilitate emergent and routine responses.
• Monitor closed circuit video, access control and intercom systems.
• Attend required training
Qualifications
- Age of 18 or older
- Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency.
Location: Winnebago County Public Safety Center – Forest City, Iowa
Pay Range: $21.16 to $23.82 per hour ($41,156 to $46,320 annually dependent on experience and/or certifications)
Shift: May work any of the following shifts: 7a.m. to 3 p.m.; 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday-Sunday (including holidays)
The usual work schedule for this position is a 6 day on, 3 day off rotation. The first 3 days on 1st shift, 7am to 3pm, then 3 days on 2nd shift, 3pm to 11pm. This position requires the ability to flex to other shifts, or days, and work overtime as needed to fill time off.

Additional Requirements
- Physical Requirements: The position requires sustained use of eyes, fingers, hands, and arms in entering data and using keyboards and standard office equipment. Must have vision capabilities enabling him/her to view computer data and paper documents at the depth of 20” or less as well as other requirements of a telecommunications position.
- May be required to travel to and from training.
