Where can I find recent section corner certificates?
Recent corner records are linked through Beacon under the “Corners” layer. Linked corner records include the following:
- All Section Corner Certificates and Monument Preservation Certificates recorded with the County Recorder
- Corner records from the County Engineer’s Office from the 1980s and 1990s
Where can I find older section corner records?
Contact the County Engineer’s Office for older records. We are in the process of scanning and making available all corner records back to the 1930s.

Winnebago County has established horizontal and vetical control as 63 locations at approximately 3 mile intervals. The survey was completed in 2002 using the following datum:
- Horizontal: Iowa State Plane Coordinate System, North Zone (1401) North American Datum 1983 (NAD 83) 1996 adjustment.
- Vertical: North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 1988)
